I went through 3 free pedals from EA. Finally gave up and spent the extra $25 for a solid pedal made out of metal from www.pedalmasters.com. They were cheaper than the other guys I saw and got mine next day.

Hopefully, I dont snap the base like the dude above. I spoke to pedalmasters tech support and they told me that they're coming out with a new fix for that too. But for now, I'm at least playing without the stupid creaking that I use to hear right before my pedal broke.

I broke 2! the first one I reinforced the pedal with plastice on the top and sides then lotsa eletrical tape. and that lasted for a really long time, then when that snapped at the base this time! I bought another, when that broke and it was time to fix it I learned from the first. so this time I placed a board on top of the pedal with a slant on it to fit my foot better, also forcing me to push the kit inwards instead of away, and on the underside rubber glued the whole thing to a square of rubber, which absorbs some of the smack sound late at night and even better, keeps me from pushing my drums away.

I'm definitely considering one of the aftermarket pedals. I've already broken one and the new one feels like it's ready to give. Any idea if a mod would cause EA to reject a warranty claim? I realize it shouldn't break after the mod, but still.

I think my experience with a failing pedal may be abnormal. Mine broke across the base, not the pedal itself; almost directly below where yours broke in the picture. I have since worked up a (better, in my opinion) hack using a real drum pedal that I found designs for online (can't remember where, or I'd link).
