Rock Band 2 vs. Guitar Hero: World Tour Note Charts

At last count, Guitar Hero: World Tour had eighteen songs in common with Rock Band 2, once you factor in downloadable tracks. While the overlap (complete list here) is sort of a bummer, it’s also a perfect opportunity to compare the note charts between the two games. And that’s exactly what one enterprising YouTube user did. Here are a set of 16 videos comparing the exact same songs in both games on expert guitar. I’ve highlighted a few of the more interesting ones below.

Foo Fighters – Everlong

Silversun Pickups -Lazy Eye

Allman Brothers – Ramblin’ Man

Dinosaur Jr. – Feel the Pain

Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way

It is interesting to see the different stylistic choices in charting. I have to say I generally prefer the RB2 charts, but that might be because I’m used to them already. Also, big kudos to altstrum.com for putting these awesome video comparisons together for everyone! Great site — I encourage all fake plastic rockers to check it out.

Of course, the drum charts are another matter entirely due to the compression from the 3 pad / 2 cymbal layout of the “native” GH:WT drumset to the 4 pad RB drumset. The jury’s still out on that.
