Guitar Hero: Metallica Motion Capture

I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest Metallica fan. But as a fan of the fake plastic rock genre I did pre-order Guitar Hero: Metallica. And now I’m extra glad I did — check out this awesome motion capture promo video:

Part of my fear was that this would be another half-hearted Guitar Hero: Aerosmith cash in. That is clearly not the case; the band really put their heart into this game. They actually played every song in the game in motion capture suits! How cool is that? between the music, the venues, the more realistic “look”, and the hours and hours of detailed motion capture of the actual band playing the real songs — it looks like a really authentic and unique band experience. This is edging on to my “recommended” list, as long as you can deal with the inevitable difficulty level that comes with Metallica.

Pay special attention to the note charts in the background of that video, by the way. The only major feature improvement in the game compared to Guitar Hero World Tour is the double bass pedal on the new Expert+ drums difficulty level, which leads to stuff like.. this.. at about 1:22 :

So .. good luck with that. :)

If you check the screenshot, you’ll notice they added meters to the left side of the note track. This is a great new addition. In GH:WT you had to look in the upper left corner of the screen to tell how you were doing, which was awkward at best.
