New Logitech Ultra Premium Guitars

Remember the original Logitech Ultra Premium Fake Plastic Guitar?

It must have been a modest success, because Logitech has introduced two new, updated ultra premium fake plastic guitars:

Playstation 3 Black Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller (v2)

Xbox 360 Orange Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller

MSRP is $199 on both models, a small but welcome drop from the $249 of the original Logitech guitar, which was also a Playstation exclusive.

Based on the reviews, it seems that the new version of the guitar includes several refinements and player-requested improvements over the original guitar. It is definitely an investment, but I for one am much more comfortable making that investment if I’m not buying the first version of it!

The Logitech guitar will work with both the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series of games, but includes the touch-sensitive slider pad that is only functional in later iterations of the Guitar Hero series.

Between these new Logitech premium guitars and the Mad Catz premium bass and guitars, there’s no lack of choice in the market — if premium fake plastic guitars are your bag!

A question for anyone in the know: Check out the official page for the X360 version of the guitar:

On the Specifications tab, what’s with the text in caps, basically saying, “We’re not granting you license to use this guitar in Rock Band games!”?

Will it not work, or would I just be violating some absurd terms of use?

Probably just some absurd term of use I wouldn’t worry about it, but then again I don’t own one but you should be fine.

I think that same language has been included with all GH hardware since GH3. It’s just Activision’s overactive legal department, but most likely nothing to worry about.

Activision just doesn’t want to spend money on having their tech support answer questions about using your RB perpherals in GH. The disclaimer allows their support staff to ignore you. Makes sense really. Where do you draw the line? Should Activision give tech support to someone who is trying to use PS2 Rock Revolution drum kit with an USB adaptor on PS3 GH? I don’t think so. But idiots would call them if they didn’t put on the box not to.

These look sweet, but I can’t stand the Guitar Hero fret buttons :/

Well, I couldn’t resist and ordered this guitar, so I’ll be sure to post a review when I get it.. Amazon says delivery in mid-August.
